Springing forward...

As we head into a new season, the weather's getting warmer (although the old adage "ne'er case a clout 'til May is out" is certainly proving true!), and we're getting booked up on some of our workshops, and meeting new tutors to discuss new ideas.

Here's a round-up of the workshops that we've currently got offer and the spaces that we've got available, in date order:

Fused Glass Flowers - Saturday 30th April

Can you believe that we've still got spaces on our workshop this Saturday? If you want to spend the morning learning the core skills of glass fusing with our very own Danielle Hopkinson, book yourself a place now and make yourself beautiful blooms with frits, stringers and high fire paints.

Surface Pattern Graphic Design - Sunday 1st May

This nature-inspired graphic design and illustration workshop with Betty Adamou begins with curating & taking photos and then, with introductory Photoshop training, you'll learn how to make surface pattern designs ready for printing after the workshop on tea towels, coasters, tote bags, whatever takes your fancy! 6 places still available - book now!

Kev's Spring Fest 7th / 8th May

We're out and about the next weekend with The Stained Glass Studio - some of our tutors have stalls too - it's a great event with live music, a licensed bar, amazing coffee and ice cream and around 40 artisan makers and independent traders. It's all free and there's plenty of parking... see you there!

Signwriting for Beginners - 11th May

The incredibly talented Wayne Tanswell is one of a small number of professional traditional signwriters in the country. He's worked and taught all over the world and only now teaches with us and at Central St Martins. Don't miss the opportunity to learn from the best. It's an all day workshop and you'll come away desperate to keep practicing your new skill. Book now - 2 places left!

Also in May

We've got 4 places left on our one-day vitreous enamelling workshop with Dale Devereux Barker on 14th, 5 places on our Linking Rings Necklace workshop with our regular jewellery tutor Andrea Wright on 15th, and the first of our new Cyanotype workshops with Mikaela Rackham on 22nd

Coming up in June...

So far we've just got 2 workshops in June:

The second of our Cyanotype workshops - photography without a camera - on 12th. This time you get to experiment with colour - 5 places left on this one

The other June workshop is hosted by Pot Punk Henry Moore, our resident potter - it's hand building pottery planters that are architecturally inspired. Learn different techniques and take home something that you can showcase in your home and be proud of. 6 tickets left on this workshop but Henry's classes are popular so don't delay!

Looking further ahead...

In September Betty Adamou is repeating her popular Introduction to Botanical Illustration with a close-up twist workshop - just 2 places left on this one already.

And, in October, if you fancy trying your hand at the potter's wheel, Henry Moore will be teaching a 4-week evening class in pottery for all abilities. If you fancy learning what 'wedging' and 'coning' are, and learning pottery from scratch, these classes are for you. Equally, if you've thrown before, come along and hone your skills, learn new techniques and leave with a set of pots that you've thrown, decorated and glazed at the end of the 4 week series. Just 4 places available on this workshop as we like each of our students to have their own wheel.

And finally

We'll shortly be adding new stained glass workshops, alongside other new classes. Watch this space for something exciting happening over the Summer and, if you'd like to find out about using our creative space for something of your own, find out more here.

Don't forget, if you'd like to share the art of creativity with someone else, we have gift vouchers in lots of denominations.

As always, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you to our workshops very soon.

Danielle and Ian
